Sat., May 17 - Opening Day for the Gabriola Agricultural Association Farmers’ Market at the Agi Hall. Open to the public at 10am (wait for the bell) until 1pm. Dogs permitted if on a leash. Drop-in vendors: please arrive before 8:30am and speak to Daryl about a space.

Sat., May 17 - Garage sale/silent auction at Gabriola Fellowship Church. 10-3. Proceeds to Operation Christmas Child Shoe Boxes.

Sat., May 17 - Whale-sized donations from Gabriola’s artists and generous citizens can be purchased at the giant SOS Yard Sale and Fair. 811 North Road, from 10 am to 4 pm. Works from 16 local artists will be featured in a silent auction to run from May 10-16 online (make a bid!) and on the day of the yard sale until 3 pm. Sun., May 18 - The Gabriola Museum is opening for the summer. Official Opening at 1 p.m. with music, refreshments and fun for kids. Celebrating the new exhibit Gabriola Tides: Stories of Silva Bay. It is a multi-media exhibit with filmed interviews, artifacts and photos and explores this boating  community from early days to the present. The second exhibit, BeachQuest,  also focuses on Gabriola’s shores - our amazing and diverse marine life. After May 18, the Museum will be open from 11 am to 3:30 pm on weekends and holidays through to Canada Day when summer hours start.

Sun. May 18 - Art that Reaches out to you - Gabriola Photography Club’s spring show & sale, 12 to 4 pm, Rollo Centre. Framed & mounted prints, cards, photography tips, slideshow, door prizes & more. Free admission.

Come to the Gabriola Professional Centre on North Road between April 21 and June 13 to enjoy the watercolour paintings of Pam Tempelmayr of Whalebone Studio. Pam has been painting for more than 40 years and has assembled a collection of her many “story-within-story” paintings in her fish and whale series especially for display at the Centre. Works shown will include many paintings not previously seen on Gabriola Island.
