Wed., Nov. 14 - Indigenous Voices with Elder Sandra Good. 2 pm at the Library. Join Snuneymuxw Elder Sandra Good as she shares the history of the Snuneymuxw First Nation. Free, drop in at the Gabriola Library. Everyone welcome.

 Sat., Nov. 17 - Book launch with Sharon McInnes. 2 pm at the Library. Gabriola’s Friends of the Library invite you to join us as we celebrate the launch of Sharon’s novel Across a Narrow Strait, which she wrote while living on Gabriola. Free, drop in. Everyone welcome.

Sat., Nov 17 - Solitary Refinement, coming to the Gabriola Community Hall - live performance (1-man) with multi-media, human drama about 1 man’s time of years in solitary confinement for his beliefs. Free Admission, contributions accepted. 7pm.

Wed., Nov. 21 - Family Movie Night at the Gabriola Library. 5 pm. It’s movie time! We’re showing Captain Underpants: The First Epic Movie on our big TV, complete with popcorn! Free, drop in. Everyone welcome.

Fri-Sun Nov. 23-25 - Gabriola Players presents the world premiere of Pirates of Nursery Rhyme Island by Lesley Hazeldine. Panto fun for all the family. Community Hall, Fri & Sat at 7pm and Sat & Sun at 2pm. Bring the kids early so they can paint their own pirate masks. Tickets $15 for adults and $5 for children at North Road Sports or online at

Sat., Nov. 24 - Author talk with Linda Rogers and Bill Stenson. 2 pm at the Library. Gabriola’s Friends of the Library present a double book launch with two local Vancouver Island authors: Linda Rogers is from Victoria and will be sharing her book of short stories Crow Jazz, and novelist Bill Stenson is Winner of the 4th Great BC Novel Contest. Bill will be sharing his novel Ordinary Strangers. Free, drop in. Everyone welcome.

Sun. Nov. 25 – Visual treats galore at Gabriola Photography Club’s Fall Show & Sale, Rollo Centre, 12pm-4pm. Prints, cards, slideshow, draw prizes. Free admission.

Sun., Nov. 25 - Gabriola Ecumenical Event - Poetry and Music at the Netloft. 1960 Murray Road. 3pm-5pm. Admission by donation. Poet, Leanne McIntosh and musicians Carolyn Bell and Jacqui Parker-Snedker explore with the audience the creative process of poetry and music.”

Fri., Nov. 28 - EmPower, Gabriola’s newly formed Sustainable Energy Co-op, is having its inaugural Annual General Meeting on at 6 pm upstairs at the Gabriola Commons. Anyone interested is welcome to attend to hear what’s planned and take part in the discussion, but only those who have paid the $30 membership fee on/by Nov 14th are eligible to vote, including for the next directors. Thurs., Nov. 29 - Christ Church Gabriola hosts a video and discussion on “Making Sense of Anxiety in Children and Youth” Gordon Neufeld Institute. 10am - 12pm with childcare, 7pm-9pm with no childcare. All Caregivers Welcome.

Thurs., Nov. 29 - Fibre Arts Circle at the Library. 2-4 pm. Bring your projects and enjoy an afternoon of tea and crafting with other fibre enthusiasts. Beginners and newcomers welcome! Free, drop in.

Sat., Dec. 1 -Death Café at the Library. 1 pm. A Death Café is a group directed discussion of death with no agenda, objectives, or themes. Free, but space is limited. Please call the library at 250-247-7878 to sign up.

Sun., Dec. 2 - The Gabriola Chamber Ensemble with Director, Brad Shipley, singers and instrumentalists, present their Fall Concert 2:30pm. Christ Church Gabriola, 2600 South Road. Tickets at the door, $15.00, children under 16 free with an adult. The program will include selections from Camille Saint-Saëns’ Christmas Oratorio and Giovanni Pergolesi’s Sabat Mater along with some familiar seasonal tunes.

Sat., Nov. 10 - Spinners, Weavers, Art and More Craft Sale. 10am-4pm. Rollo Seniors Centre. Join us as we begin a new tradition.

Sat., Nov. 10 –30th Annual Christmas Tea and Bazaar. Community Hall. 2-4pm. Christ Church Gabriola sponsor. A great selection of baking, books, frozen soups, plants, crafts, and Granny Table items. Admission free. Tea $7per person.
