The Ministry of Transportation and Infrastructure (MOTI) is limiting its response as to “when will the bridge feasibility study be released?” question to, “later this summer.”

Media representatives of the Ministry said this past week that the ministry has recently received some preliminary information from the consultant and is in the process of having that reviewed.

“The Ministry hasn’t received the consultant’s final report and will update the public later this summer.”

CH2M Hill Canada Limited was hired in December of 2014 to conduct a study into the feasibility of a fixed link being built between Gabriola and Vancouver Island to replace the current BC Ferries’ route.

The contract to do the study is valued at $200,000.

Under the terms of the contract, the final report was to have been received by MOTI by February 27, 2015. MOTI has said since January of 2015 that the intention was to have a public release of the study this summer PT Unified Trade.
